Dialogue Doctor

Beta

Version 1.5.0Out now with improved processing algorithms and sound quality.

Latest signed release: 1.5.0

Dialogue Doctor is a macOS plug-in focused on dialogue cleanup and tone consistency with separate sibilance and residual processing, so you can dial each independently. It is built for post-production, VO, and podcast editing.

Format: AAX / AU / VST3 Platform: Apple Silicon macOS
Download DialogueDoctor_1.5.0.pkg

Latest stable download is 1.5.0 (AAX / AU / VST3).

Dialogue Doctor Parameters

Sibilance Detector

  • Detect Threshold: The level above which high-frequency content is treated as sibilance.
  • Gate: Ignores very quiet signals below this level to prevent false detection.
  • Min Duration: Minimum event length required before processing starts.
  • Release: How quickly detection fades after sibilance drops.
  • Lookahead: Pre-scans incoming audio to catch fast sibilants more accurately.
  • Wave Speed: Controls how quickly the detector follows waveform changes.

Harsh Moderator

  • Low Hz: Lower bound of the processing frequency range.
  • High Hz: Upper bound of the processing frequency range.
  • Focus: Tightens or broadens emphasis inside the selected band.
  • Max Cut: Maximum amount of attenuation applied to harsh content.
  • Strength: Overall intensity of the harshness reduction.

Declick

  • Freq Hz: Primary frequency region used for click detection.
  • Sensitivity: Detection aggressiveness for short click artifacts.
  • Max Len ms: Longest transient duration treated as a click.
  • Strength: Amount of click reduction.
  • Texture: Balances smooth repair vs. preserved detail.
  • Contour Priority: During declicking, repair prioritizes continuity of the surrounding waveform contour over spectral replacement. This minimizes timbral change and favors a natural result.
  • Mix: Wet/dry blend between processed and original signal.

Note: With Contour Priority ON, processing leans toward continuous contour repair, so Max Len has less impact.

Deplosive

  • Low Hz: Lower bound of plosive detection/processing.
  • High Hz: Upper bound of plosive detection/processing.
  • Length: Time window used to suppress plosive events.
  • Depth: Reduction depth applied to detected plosives.
  • Detect: Detection sensitivity for plosive events.

Typical use cases

Film / TV dialogue

Quick polish for noisy or inconsistent dialogue across takes.

Voice-over

Keep narration clear and present while staying natural.

Podcast editing

Separate sibilance and residual control across speakers.

Requirements

Install

  1. Download DialogueDoctor_1.5.0.pkg.
  2. Run the installer (AAX / AU / VST3 are installed by default).
